What is a Functional Capacity Assessment?

A Functional Capacity Assessment, often referred to as an FCA, examines how a person's disability affects their functioning across everyday activities and environments. Rather than considering diagnosis alone, the assessment looks at what the person can do independently, where they experience difficulty and what assistance, supervision, equipment, environmental changes or other disability related supports may be required.
